WelchGroup Consulting (WelchGroup) wishes to announce that Dragan Veljovic will be leaving our practice to work with Chairman’s View; a Boston based consulting firm specialising in private business value creation. This is a bittersweet moment since we are losing a key member of our team. We will continue to work closely with Dragan as we continue to deliver the Chairman’s View offering to our clients.

Since Dragan first spearheaded our involvement with this product, out of Boston, he has committed a great deal of time and energy to its development. Throughout this process he has become an integral contributor to the Chairman’s View team. We wish Dragan and Chairman’s View all the best. Dragan will be missed by everyone here including our clients.

Welch Group will continue to provide consulting services including the full complement of the Chairman’s View offering. Chairman’s View represents a software driven process designed to provide an in-depth analysis of your business operations. In the end the process creates an action plan and a methodology to track future performance.

Our Vice President of Private Sector, Richard Monk, has decided to retire. Richard has 30 years of cross-industry and consulting experience in both the profit and not-for-profit sectors, which made him a great asset to our management team. We wish him all the best in his new adventure and hope to engage his expertise in the future.

Candace Enman, our Senior Consultant, was accepted into the Women's Business Network (WBN) of Ottawa! For 29 years, the WBN has accumulated approximately 150 members dedicated to building business relationships, achieving success and celebrating accomplishments. Congratulations Candace!

Summer 2010
Our marketing plan for the summer was to focus on increasing the traffic to our website by diving into the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is the way in which websites are tailored, so that they rank higher on search engines like Google. There are many free tools on the internet that can help increase traffic to your website just like it helped ours! With September just around the corner, summer vacations are coming to an end and business will be back to normal. Given the turn-around in the Canadian economy, we expect the next few months to be busy for both the private and public sectors. What are you doing to prepare for the upcoming season?

We will be updating the public sector section of our website introducing our new service offering in project management. Many federal agencies receive funds for certain projects but may not have the resources to ensure that fund allocation is performed in a diligent and cost effective manner – we want to ensure that your Canadian tax dollars are being spent efficiently!

We will continue our electronic newsletters in September with an inside look into our Phase I Chairman’s View engagement from the perspective of one of our clients. Join the WelchGroup community by clicking ‘Sign up’ on the right side of this page.

Candace Enman has joined our team as a Senior Consultant and will be responsible for business development and the delivery of the W View methodology.  Candace graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, Honors Accounting and received her CA designation with Welch & Company.  In 2000 she left Welch, first as the Director of Finance for the Canadian Produce Marketing Association & The Canadian Horticultural Council and then as Financial Controller for Club Assist. We would like to welcome Candace to the WelchGroup family. We are looking forward to working with her and adding her expertise to our team.

Genevieve Cavanagh is a recent graduate from Carleton University holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Law. Genevieve will be wearing various hats within the realm of executive support, office administration, W-Group brand maintenance and proposal writing, to name a few.  We would like to welcome her to the WelchGroup family and we look forward to the continuation of W-Group accomplishments with her enthusiasm and dedication to our success.

 

Spotlight

The firm conducted a comprehensive financial, operational and governance structure review of the policies and practices of the Kingston Frontenac Housing Corporation. This included, but not limited to:

• Evaluating operational efficiency
• Analyzing purchasing policies and revenue streams
• Assessing the community interface as well as tenant programs and services
• Developing a recovery and implementation plan in the form of a final report
• Providing expert advice on the development of the next-step strategy for the implementation plan

 

What resulted was an implementation of many recommendations made by us in relation to operations, finance and governance.
